I am International Master Aakash Dalvi from India. I have been playing chess professionally for more than a decade and have been coaching students since 2020.
I work with players ranging from beginners who want to build a strong foundation to competitive and advanced players looking to take their game to the next level.
As a professional player, I believe improvement comes from understanding chess rather than simply memorizing moves. My goal is to help you understand your own games, recognize your weaknesses, and develop practical thinking skills that you can apply independently over the board.
Whether your goal is to improve your online rating, prepare for tournaments, build a strong opening repertoire, or simply understand chess at a deeper level, lessons are tailored to your individual needs and playing style.

Teaching experience
I have been coaching chess since 2020 and have worked with students at a wide range of playing levels.
My coaching is individualized rather than based on a fixed syllabus. Every student has different strengths, weaknesses and goals, so I adapt the training accordingly.
Depending on your level and objectives, we can work on:
• Calculation and tactical vision
• Positional understanding
• Opening preparation and repertoire building
• Middlegame planning
• Endgame technique
• Analysis of your own games
• Tournament preparation
• Practical decision-making and time management
• Improving your thinking process
• Preparation against specific opponents or openings

Best skills
I don't want you to simply remember what I tell you during a lesson.
I want you to understand why a position works the way it does and eventually be able to find the answers yourself.
A typical lesson can involve analyzing your own games, solving positions, studying important strategic concepts, working on calculation, preparing openings, or playing and analyzing training games.
I adapt the difficulty and structure of the lessons according to the student's level and progress.

Teaching methodology
Who I Can Help
Beginners: Build a strong foundation and learn how to think correctly from the start.
Intermediate players: Break through rating plateaus, improve calculation and positional understanding, and identify recurring weaknesses.
Advanced & competitive players: Work on deeper strategic concepts, opening preparation, calculation, tournament preparation and practical decision-making.
If you're serious about improving and willing to put in the work between lessons, I would be happy to help you progress.
Online Lessons
Lessons are conducted online using Lichess's interactive analysis board, with Google Meet, Zoom or Skype when appropriate.
We can analyze your games together, work through positions interactively and build a training plan around your individual goals.
If you'd like to improve your chess, send me a message and tell me your current rating, goals and what you feel you struggle with most. We can take it from there.
