About me

I’ve been playing chess since I was 5 and coaching since 2020.

I work best with motivated players who are willing to put in the work, but don’t want to waste their time figuring out what to study, what to ignore, or whether they’re training the right things.

My job is to make sure your effort is well spent.

I keep my student roster deliberately small so I can know each player’s game, follow their progress closely, and adjust their training as they improve.

Playing experience

Candidate Master with 2272 FIDE rating, currently at my peak.

Some of my achievements include:

🏆 Spanish University Champion (2023)

🏆 Galician Champion (2025, 2022)

🏆 Ourense Provincial Champion (2023)

Teaching experience

I’ve spent more than six years coaching players of very different levels and ages.

One pattern comes up again and again: what a player most needs to work on is often exactly what they are least likely to work on by themselves. We naturally gravitate towards what feels familiar and neglect what feels difficult.

My job is to spot that gap and turn it into focused training.

Other experiences

I’ve interviewed many titled players —including top level GMs— as well as experienced coaches and a research psychologist, discussing with them how players actually improve at chess.

Those conversations have strongly shaped the way I approach training today, as scientific research and practical experience tend to converge on the same conclusion: sustained, directed and active training is what actually drives improvement.

This is the core principle our work will be built around.

Best skills

My strongest skill is identifying what matters most — the few things that make the biggest difference.

There is more chess material available than you could ever study. The hard part is knowing what deserves your attention now, what can wait, and what you can safely ignore.

Less noise. More quality training.

Teaching methodology

I work with only a few committed students at a time.

My coaching is built around what I call The 8-Week Method. Training runs in focused 8-week cycles: we identify what is holding you back, set clear priorities, and adjust the plan as you improve.

I provide the direction. You bring the consistency. The workload adapts to the time you have available.

If this sounds like the way you want to train, email me at trainer.artai@proton.me with your rating, goal, and weekly availability to see if we’re a good fit to work together.
