About me

Hi! I’m Miroslav, a chess player and coach from the Czech Republic.

What I enjoy most about chess is exploring positions in depth. I like asking not only what the best move is, but also why it works, what makes other moves less effective, and which general principles we can take from the position.

Outside of chess, I study mathematics and philosophy at university, and I also tutor mathematics and English. These subjects have shaped the way I approach teaching: I enjoy breaking complicated ideas into clear steps, asking the right questions, and helping students reach the answer themselves.

My goal is to help you understand chess more deeply, develop your own thinking process, and feel more confident in unfamiliar positions.

Playing experience

I have been playing chess competitively for eight years. During that time, I have gained experience in many national tournaments and finished 4th at the Czech Junior Championship.

I am currently working towards the FIDE Master title and continue to play regularly, study the game, and improve my own understanding of chess. My tournament experience has taught me not only chess theory, but also how to make practical decisions, manage time pressure, and fight for a win in difficult positions.

Teaching methodology

My teaching is based on an individual approach and a deep understanding of the ideas behind the moves.

Every student has different strengths, weaknesses, goals, and ways of thinking, so I adapt the lessons accordingly. We can focus on your own games, specific positions, calculation, strategic understanding, or any area where you feel less confident.

I can also help you improve both theoretical and practical endgames. We can study essential positions, important principles, and the decision-making skills needed to handle unfamiliar endgames over the board.

Another important part of my coaching is opening preparation. I can help you build a solid and reliable repertoire that fits your style, while still keeping enough complexity and imbalance in the position to play for a win.

My goal is not only to improve your results, but to help you develop a clearer, more confident, and more reliable thinking process.
