Also useful for your own blunder checks. "For the move I am considering making, what am I undefending? What gift am I about to give to my opponent?"

Very nice article with good examples!
Small nitpick, I am not sure if this consideration is relevant, or perhaps could be reworded to reflect the underlying thought
"Did they move a piece off a square you’d love to occupy yourself?"

Very helpful and educational blog! I wish everyone would be able to read this.
I must add that though - (not to be a nerd or anything) that you have to add the "contains sponsored...." logo, because you advertised your chess able course.

I remember during a classical tournament chess festival, I was playing a NM and he played Nxe4? I was very surprised but I saw there was tactics and then I figured that by first hxg6+ fxg6 his king was very weak and him playing Nf6xe4 only wins a pawn but the knight had abandoned the defence of his king especially the dark squares, took me like 40+ minutes to calculate the variations, hands shaking I played Bxh6! after black played fxg6 earlier, sacrificing the queen temporarily for a knight and a bishop later! He only realised after Nxd2 Bxd2+ that he had to play Bh6, so Bxh6+ Kh7 Nf3! the g5 square is fatal and after black played Rf5 and me playing Ng5+ he resigned, seeing that Rxg5 is met by Bxg5+ and winning the queen back with interest

Playing e5 is terrible because you take the center.
for example:
1.dxe5 nxe5 2.nxe5 qxe5 3.qxd5 white is winning!
